Joint Powers Board
The purpose of the Joint Powers Board is to facilitate agreement between the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and county mental health authorities in 10 South Central Minnesota counties to redesign and implement new community-based mental health services for adults with serious and persistent mental illness.
The redesign will be planned by the South Central Community Based Initiative Regional Management Team and implemented with the approval of both the Department of Human Services and the South Central Community Based Initiative - Joint Powers Board. This relationship and commitment will provide a demonstration of evidenced-based and best practices and principles that may serve as an impetus for statewide change in the way community-based adult mental health services are delivered.
It will lead to an enhanced community-based approach to the delivery of adult mental health safety net services.
